The
2008 Beijing Olympic Games offered Tibetans and their supporters an
unprecedented opportunity to draw attention to China's occupation of
Tibet. Visit SFT's Olympics website: www.FreeTibet2008.org to learn more about this historic campaign.
FREE TIBET 2008 WEBSITE AND VIDEO
In the lead up to the Beijing Olympic Games, SFT launched an Olympics website – www.FreeTibet2008.org - and a powerful
4-minute Olympics campaign video.
TIBET ACTIVISTS PROTEST 2008 OLYMPICS AT GREAT WALL OF CHINA
Six
Tibet independence activists from the UK, US, and Canada were detained
on August 7th, 2007 after rappelling from the top of the Great Wall of China
with a 450-square foot protest banner reading “One World, One Dream,
Free Tibet 2008” in English and Chinese. The dramatic action took
place on the eve of the one-year countdown to the 2008 Beijing
Olympics. Chinese authorities removed the activists after two hours;
their current whereabouts are unknown.
Under Chinese occupation, Tibetans are denied their right to sovereignty and have been barred from competing in the Olympic Games on behalf of their country. Team Tibet represents the national aspirations of the Tibetan people for freedom and independence.

ONE WORLD, ONE DREAM: FREE TIBET 2008
SFT Launches Official Olympics Slogan!
China's official slogan for the 2008 Olympic Games in China is ONE
WORLD, ONE DREAM. It is meant to hide the brutality of its "One
China" policy - the cruel occupation of Tibet, military threats against
Taiwan, oppression of the Uyghur people of East Turkestan, and
colonization of Southern Mongolia.
ONE WORLD, ONE DREAM: FREE TIBET is SFT’s official Olympic slogan and
we're going to spread it around the world. By the time the Games start next year, we want the world to be more familiar with it than
they are with China's.
By using the tools China has created for the Olympics, like this slogan
and the Tibetan antelope mascot "Yingying", SFT will subvert China's
propaganda and promote our message of human rights and freedom for
Tibet. See below for more ways that SFT is promoting our Olympics
message.
Yingsel the Rangzen Antelope Escapes!
Yingsel, the Tibetan Antelope was captured by the Chinese authorities, renamed "YingYing," and forced to be one of the "Friendlies",
the Beijing 2008 Olympic Mascots. By playing this game you can help
Yingsel escape so that she can return to Tibet and become a powerful
freedom fighter!
How to Play? You are Yingsel.
Use the cursor keys to navigate the maze. Eat up the power momos* and
use your Rangzen* power to defeat Jingjing the Cybercop. Collect the
tsampa* dots and you win your freedom! Click here to play now.
* Rangzen is the Tibetan word for “self-sovereignty” or independence.
* Momos are popular Tibetan dumplings.
* Jingjing is one of two ridiculous cartoons which appear on the Internet in China to "remind" users not to break the law.
* Tsampa is roasted barley flour and a staple of the Tibetan diet.

The
Chinese government hopes to use Beijing 2008 to gain recognition and
acceptance as a legitimate world power, on the same footing as other
democratic countries that have hosted the Games. The Olympics form part
of the government's increasingly
sophisticated effort to obscure its occupation of Tibet and human
rights record from international scrutiny. We must shift the focus of
both the world and the Chinese government onto Tibet, calling on
Beijing to free Tibet by 2008 or face massive protest during the 2008
Games.
