THE PLEDGE HAS RECEIVED MORE THAN 380 SIGNATORIES
Earth Day is an annual day where activists and all those concerned about climate change express their support for the environment. Now more than ever it is so important to fight for a cleaner, environmentally-friendly world for future generations. However, many governments and big companies are doing everything in their power to promote and carry out policies which are expediting the destruction of our environment.
Tibetans are on the frontlines of this destruction as China continues to displace Tibetan nomads and raize the Tibetan environment – all in the name of “development.”
Despite this tragedy, Tibetans and the Tibet Climate Crisis are often excluded from the wider climate change conversation. Well, Students for a Free Tibet (SFT) is trying to change that.
On April 12, 2020, SFT launched the Tibet Climate Crisis Pledge. Signatories of this pledge commit to do three things: educate themselves and others about environmental issues in Tibet, raise the Tibet Climate Crisis in every environmental forum in which they participate, and stand with Tibetan nomads and environmental activists who are silenced by the Chinese government.
In just 10 short days, our pledge has already garnered more than 380 signatories. Tibetan voices MUST contribute to the climate conversation and SFT will not stop raising this issue until it is solved. We thank everyone who has pledged to fight for the Tibetan environment. Below is the full list of signatories until today.
