March 10: Tibetan National Uprising Day | 60th Commemoration

On March 10, 1959, tens of thousands of Tibetans took to the streets of Lhasa, Tibet’s capital, to rise up against China’s illegal invasion and occupation of their homeland. 60 years later, we continue to honor those individuals through our actions.

We REMEMBER our Tibetan brothers and sisters who have fallen, and those who have continued to suffer under Chinese repression for the past 60 years. We RESIST by demanding justice and freedom from China’s unrelenting campaign to wipe out the Tibetan identity. And through our actions and advocacy, there is no doubt that we will RETURN to Tibet one day!

Every year, thousands of Tibetans and Tibet-supporters take to the streets across the world to mark the anniversary of Tibetan National Uprising Day—this year is no different. These actions echo the calls of Tibetans inside Tibet and remind the world that Tibetans will never give up their dreams of freedom and the Dalai Lama’s return to Tibet.

This year, March 10 falls on a Sunday. We hope that you will take this opportunity to join your local protest, and raise your voice for Tibet. Find a local rally on our event page and print materials to take with you from our action kit.

We will never give up—Tibet will be free.

With Determination,
